Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) dropped 1.15% to $17.18. This week, the company reported its third quarter earnings 2010, with revenues at $16.2 billion, an increase of 39% compared with $11.6 billion in previous year.
The net income reported was of $866.0 million; a decrease of 70% compared with $2.9 billion in the previous year and reported diluted EPS of $0.11, a decrease of 74% compared with $0.43 in previous year.
The company is expecting revenues between $65.2 and $67.7 billion and diluted EPS between $1.58 and $1.73 for 2012.
Over the past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $14-$20.36 and is down more than 7% year-to-date.
Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) added 1.34% to $4.53. Earlier this week, the company posted a quarterly net profit, compared with a year-ago loss, helped by the recognition of deferred tax benefits.
Third-quarter net profit was $932 million, or $1.68 a share, compared with a net loss of $3 million, or 1 cent a share, a year earlier.
But adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization fell 15.4 percent to $203 million in the quarter, compared with a year ago. Tenet said its net operating revenue was unchanged at $2.26 billion.
WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE:WLP) went up 1.13% to $57.35. The company posted slightly higher net income on Wednesday, helped by administrative cost controls, and raised its full-year forecast for profit and membership.
Net income rose to $739.1 million, or $1.84 per share, from $730.2 million, or $1.53 per share, a year earlier.
The company projected net income of “at least” $6.60 per share for 2010, or at least $6.45 excluding items. It previously projected at least $6.30.
The 52-week range of the stock is $46.52-$70.
